The students are starting a book of reading exercises and comprehension. This also includes a grammar portion. They are enjoying it and rising to the challenge! As well students are writing both fiction and non-fiction samples related to machines. In this sample we were writing a non-fiction book about simple machines. We will continue this writing this week as a lead up to writing a book about their own Rube Goldberg machine. |

We have had a great first 2 weeks of school. We have worked on introducing the unit of machines through asking questions surrounding books about transportation machines. Now that we have questions we are exploring different ways to find answers to our questions. This week we will continue our exploration of machines through reading and writing. I am also beginning to assess each student's individual reading lever. I would love to start posting pictures on the class blog, so if you haven't sent in your photo permission for your child I encourage you to do this.
