The grade 1/2 students have been drawing visuals that they have made from our read aloud book. Students have realised that these strategies (connecting, visualising, questioning) should be used all the time whenever they are reading. These strategies help students understand the book more fully and think deeper about what they are reading.
In the IB program students are encouraged to "take action" with each unit. This can take many forms. In this example a student chose to share a poem that she had taken the initiative to write at home. She recited the poem to the class. This is an example of using what she is learning from our "How we express ourselves unit" at home.
